You've invited to Downtown SLO's 3rd annual Sip 'n Saunter, which will take place at multiple Downtown venues on Friday, September 27 from 5-8:30 PM! Last year's event sold out, so get your tickets now!
Sip 'n Saunter is a memorable evening of beverage and food tastings from your favorite establishments while exploring Downtown San Luis Obispo's diverse shops and locations.
This year, HumanKind is teaming up with Halter Ranch, so saunter over here to sip wines from this award-winning local winery! We will also feature artisan breads from Breaking Bread Bakery, and fair trade balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and spices from our shop.
In addition, we are thrilled to have live music by Trio Ascetic with Lorenzo Cortese on tenor sax, Jackson Green on keyboards and Joel Surfleet on drums. All three of these young people are in the SLO High music program and studying with local professionals. Their friendship and passion converge in the medium of jazz. Come by and enjoy their unique take on jazz standards.
Halter Ranch is a vineyard and winery situated on the west-side of Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast. Founded in 2000, Halter Ranch has a rich history and a commitment to sustainable methods and environmental stewardship. The ranch today spans over 2000-acres, with 281-acres of SIP (Sustainability in Practice) Certified wine grapes and over 1700 acres set aside for wildlife and land conservation. Halter Ranch has also been awarded Winery of the Year by the Central Coast Wine Competition two out of the last three years (2017 and 2019) and this year our owner was named National Geographic’s Philanthropist of the Year for his worldwide conservation efforts.
The Breaking Bread Bakery represents an "encore career" for Mark and Glenna Evans. Glenna enjoyed a career as a successful hairstylist and photographic artist, while Mark comes to baking after a 35 year career of creating and managing software products for various segments of the building industry. Mark prepared for this new baking career with a thorough education. He started his training with classes at King Arthur Flour under Jeffrey Hamelman, a Certified Master Baker trained in France, Germany, and Ireland. Mark then completed a two year degree program in Baking and Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, highly regarded as one of the top culinary schools in the country. There, Mark studied under nationally known artisan bakers Richard Miscovich and Mitch Stamm. Mark has been a member of the Bread Bakers Guild of America since 2008.
