During the month of September, we are featuring artwork from local artist Paula DeLay! Stop by during Art After Dark on September 6, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. to meet Paula and to see her work. Her paintings will be up all month long.
We are excited about this upcoming Art After Dark! Local band, Mitchell Street, will be performing, and local artist, Paula DeLay, will be exhibiting her art. Both are new to HumanKind and we look forward to having them.
“Mitchell Street” band hails from the shallow waters of the Los Osos back bay and serves up an eclectic blend of blues, pop, rock, and county and has spent the last several years performing at everything from private parties, to local live music venues, to community service events.
Its members are: Johnny Letham, lead/rhythm guitar & backing vocals, Paul Pickering, rhythm guitar, lead/backing vocals, and holding down the bottom end with his bass, lead/backing vocals, Hans Langfeldt.
The band has its own professional portable sound system; and, since it doesn’t have a drummer, it can fit into just about any type of event-- large or small.
If you’ve got a need for quality live music, The Mitchell Street Band can be reached and/or booked by contacting Paul Pickering at 805 235 3221 and email@example.com
Paula was born and educated in Boston (a Master’s in Education from Boston University).
In 2012, she relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to San Luis Obispo (SLO). Inspired by the beauty of the central coast and her intrinsic love of nature, Paula resumed painting. Painting primarily outdoors (plein air), Paula creates contemporary impressionistic “scapes” (landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes, and cityscapes) in oils.
She strongly believes the arts enrich a community and supports a multitude of public art events through such organizations as Cuesta College, ARTS Obispo, and the Chapman Estate Foundation.
Paula’s award-winning work has been featured in numerous juried exhibits such as the California Art Club (CAC) Plein Air Painters Showcase, the SLOMA & ARTS Obispo Pop-up Galleries, the Santa Barbara Artwalk, Studios on the Park, the Beacon Art Show, and the SLO County En Plein Air exhibit.
Art After Dark is a free monthly event in downtown San Luis Obispo, California. On the first Friday of every month, local shops keep their doors open late, from 6pm-9pm, to support the arts by featuring a local artist. HumanKind Fair Trade participates every month with live music and refreshments in addition to the local artist. More information and listings of all participating venues can be found at Arts Obispo.
