Art After Dark with Holly Beals

During the month of March, we are featuring artwork from local artist Holly Beals! Stop by during Art After Dark on March 1, 2019 from 6-9pm to meet Holly and see her work. She will be doing a live painting demonstration during the event and her paintings will be up all month long.

Holly Beals Bio

After graduating from Chico State with a BA in communications, I worked as a graphic designer for six years. But new adventures were calling and I was blessed with the opportunity to teach conversational English to college students in Tibet. What a wild and beautiful ride that was, full of ups and downs.

One day, in my tiny teacher’s apartment, I grabbed some scrap paper, acrylic paint and magazine clippings. In the midst of a really rough day, painting was so satisfying and the perfect soul therapy. So began my love for mixed media painting.

Now, in the midst of yet another great adventure, being a mother to two young boys, I work most often with acrylics, gel medium and torn paper on wood panel. If I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me chasing after the two energetic littles, on a family jog with the double Bob stroller, or in my comfy pants, watching episodes on Hulu with the hubs.

Art After Dark is a free monthly event in downtown San Luis Obispo, California. On the first Friday of every month, local shops keep their doors open late, from 6pm-9pm, to support the arts by featuring a local artist.
