Beautifully knit accessories and decor items from Andes Gifts are handmade by Aymara and Quechua artisans using traditional knitting techniques. Andes Gifts was founded on the principles of bringing sustainable employment to rural communities throughout the Andes Mountains region in Peru and Bolivia. Committed to producing ethically made knitwear and providing consistent work for knitting cooperatives, makers receive consistent year round projects, dependable income, and flexible schedules within their local village. The ability and opportunity to work locally allows makers to invest in their local communities, keeping them vibrant and together.
Andes Gifts feature sustainable and ecofriendly fibers in their products. Alpaca fiber is sourced locally and plays a significant role in Peruvian and Bolivian indigenous culture. The natural fiber is valued for its warmth, softness, durability and hypoallergenic properties. Alpacas are herd animals that are well cared for by their owners and only sheared once per year. They graze in fields in the open air of the Andes Mountains.
