What is Apple Leather?
DECE crafts a line of beautiful apple leather bags. Apple leather is an innovative vegan material made from apple waste sourced from the food industry. Using apple pomace (leftover pulp from juice, cider, and compote production) the residue is dried, finely ground, and blended with a bio-based binder to create a durable, leather-like textile.
Produced in Italy by Mabel, this material is lightweight, resilient, and designed to look and feel similar to traditional leather, without the use of animal products or fossil-based materials. By transforming agricultural waste into a refined, functional textile, apple leather offers a thoughtful and sustainable alternative to conventional leather.
