Check out our guide to discovering sustainable fashion in San Luis Obispo!
At HumanKind, we love being able to bring fair trade fashion to our community. We think it is important that our customers have the opportunity to support skilled artisans around the world by shopping with us. But we know that fair trade is just one part of the sustainable fashion world. Our SLO town is filled with shops that can help you feel good about the clothing you buy and know it is making a positive impact in our world.
Once we started talking to our neighboring businesses to ask about how they offer sustainable fashion, we were constantly surprised by what we discovered! Did you know that Takken's doesn't only sell new shoes, but they can also repair your old ones? Or that Marine Layer is making new t-shirts from recycled tees? Many of our local thrift shops are partnering with Eco World to recycle items they can't sell! And if you want to make your own clothing, you can find help at our local fabric shops.
This guide is only the beginning. You can download a printer friendly version of our SLO Sustainable Fashion Guide. Keep it in a place that will remind you to shop local and support our local businesses that are helping us all make a difference!
Next time if you do a map, hope you will include the UVS Thrift Shop at 474 Marsh, SLO. Proceeds benefit Stand Strong (Women's Shelter).
