Laurel Hickok may be HumanKind's newest Treasurer, but she has already embraced the heart of the fair trade movement. With a love for colorful simplicity and a deep appreciation for treating others with dignity and respect, Laurel shares why HumanKind feels like so much more than a store.

What's your name and role at HumanKind, and how long have you been part of the team?

I'm Laurel Hickok, the Treasurer at HumanKind. I joined the team in January and have loved getting to know this incredible community.

How would you describe your personal style or taste when it comes to fashion, home, or gifts?

My personal style is colorful, relaxed, and on the simpler side. I like pieces that feel easy to wear and bring a little joy through color without being over the top.

What inspires your personal style or gift-giving choices?

Gifts aren't really my love language, but if I see the perfect gift for someone, I don't hesitate to buy it. I love finding something that reminds me of a specific person and knowing they'll enjoy it.

What do you love most about working at HumanKind or being part of the fair trade movement?

There is such respect in earning a living wage, and I believe we all need to respect one another as much as humanly possible. HumanKind honors people every day through that respect, and being part of an organization that values the dignity of artisans around the world is incredibly meaningful.

What makes shopping at HumanKind different from other stores?

HumanKind is colorful, warm, and inviting. From the moment you walk through the door, it feels welcoming. Every item has a purpose, every purchase has an impact, and the atmosphere reflects the kindness and respect that make HumanKind so special.
